About Us
The PRO “RE-BESS IFAISTOS Producer Responsibility Organization S.A.” with the distinctive title “RE-BESS IFAISTOS S.A.”, GEMI number 182569401000, is a Producer Responsibility Organization established and operating in accordance with the current regulatory framework and the provisions of Greek Law 4819/2021.
RE-BESS IFAISTOS S.A. was approved by Decision No. 223.2/10.11.2025 of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Recycling Agency (E.O.AN.) (ΑΔΑ: 916Δ46Ψ8ΟΖ-6ΟΥ). Its purpose is the integrated management of lithium battery waste (Li-ion/LFP) of the BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) type, in the form of battery packs, installed as stationary systems in Electrical Energy Storage Stations (EESS), consisting of industrial-type batteries with internal storage, specifically designed for storing and supplying electrical energy to and from the grid.
Geographical Scope
The geographical scope of the PRO covers the mainland part of the country and, more specifically, the following regions, as these are where the installation of Electrical Energy Storage Stations is planned:
- Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace
- Region of Attica
- Region of Western Greece
- Region of Western Macedonia
- Region of Epirus
- Region of Thessaly
- Region of Central Macedonia
- Region of Peloponnese
- Region of Central Greece
Cooperation
Cooperation with RE-BESS IFAISTOS S.A. ensures, on the one hand, the obligation of the “producers” of the aforementioned waste to cooperate with an approved Producer Responsibility Organization is met, as required by current legislation and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), and on the other hand, the rational and lawful management of their waste in accordance with best available practices.
To this end, PRO RE-BESS IFAISTOS S.A. has entered into preliminary cooperation agreements with licensed waste collection and transport companies, as well as with specialized lithium battery waste processing facilities (Li-ion/LFP) of the BESS type, operating abroad.
